Why you should eat these chocolate nut butters every day


If you're reading this, you already know Happy Jars won't make something that's unhealthy. We're all about good-for-you, simple food and our nutrition-dense dark chocolate nut butters are no different.

Here's a little story about how we came up with the dark chocolate peanut and almond butters. One day at an event, we had 14 different moms come up to us and tell us about how their kids (and themselves, obviously) used to eat chocolate spread every other day. It was either on toast in the morning, or a spoonful of dessert at night. They were sick of feeling guilty about all that sugar, and they wanted to be saved from the "unhealthy" chocolate addiction.

Enter team Happy Jars. We believe there are two types of people in this world:
Those who love chocolate.
And weirdos.

So we decided to make a chocolate based nut butter. But unlike the chocolate spread makers (who are still trying to make healthier chocolate), we started with nuts as the main ingredient. We then added dark chocolate and jaggery, a little bit at a time, until we had the perfect balance of a chocolatey taste but a superbly healthy nut butter.

Shocking fact - the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter is just 10kcal more per serving than the Jaggery Creamy Peanut Butter! That's how healthy it is!
There's 3 things that make Happy Jars Dark Chocolate Peanut and Almond butters so healthy:
1. Nuts first
With over 80% of the jar quantity being the nut itself, the key macros are already locked in. The peanut butter has 8gm of protein in every 32g serving, which is higher even than most other regular peanut butters on shelf. The almond butter is rich in vitamins, minerals and trace nutrients. It just also happens to taste like heaven in every bite.
2. Low in sugar
We love percentages, so here's another - our dark chocolate almond butter is 74% lower in sugar than your favourite chocolate spread*. Check the back of pack if you don't believe us - the first ingredient in a chocolate spread is sugar. Ours is almonds. Remember that the first ingredient is the one that's highest in quantity. You'll taste the difference too - our nut butters are never too sweet!
3. Real chocolate 
As a team we've decided that we won't use anything as an ingredient that you wouldn't eat raw. Many chocolate flavoured products use compound which is cheaper because the cocoa butter from the chocolate is replaced with vegetable fats. *Ugh*. We use REAL dark chocolate and in the interest of complete honesty the ingredients of the dark chocolate are also declared on the back of our pack.
